About D.J.

“weathrlver, a weather Pokemon. weathrlver has the ultimate power to control the weather his way. He can also give sunny days to friends and thunderstorms to enemies.” – Meganium90 describing me as if I were in a PokeDex
I am currently a junior in college at St. Cloud State University, and (as you might expect) am majoring in meteorology.
I have been interested in weather and the happenings of the sky since I was four years old. As my parents say, I would get up at 6:50 in the morning (sometimes earlier) just to catch The Weather Channel and the international weather reports (back when TWChannel did international weather regularly)! I even lobbied my principal back in 3rd grade to get a outdoor thermometer for our classroom, and succeeded. I did so well that after that, they added weather to the morning announcements, and I would get them the forecast every morning through 8th grade. From what I’ve heard, they still do a forecast every morning even though I long since left.
I created my first website (yes, a weather one) when I was in 4th grade. Put in a lot of work and did it as a school project. Fortunately, that page is no longer available thanks to the departure of Geocities. I have been blogging the weather for a few years now, staring on xanga, switching to blogger, and now on WordPress.

I am currently interning for a company called WeatherNation. WeatherNation was started up by Paul Douglas a few years ago and does forecasts for stations across the country via the Internet. Earlier this year (between my meeting with them and my first day of working) he launched The Weather Cast as a competitor against TWChannel on DISH, which quickly fell through since TWChannel made a deal with DISH to stay on the network. Paul Douglas has always been looking for the next advancement that he can hop on, he did this with EarthWatch and Digital Earth (My-Cast) in the past, and I am happy to be interning for him and being on the cutting edge in the meteorology business. They say everything he touches turns to gold — lets hope!
I am always interested in learning more. The latest technology. The latest in weather knowledge. Anything that could possibly put me ahead of others day I certainly want to know about.

I’m happily in a relationship, and couldn’t have anyone better by my side through everything that we both go through.
